PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
